Rado True Square Open Heart - A Special Watch From The Swiss Watch Brand
We have almost never come across a model from any watch brand like the True Square Open Heart from Rado. It is a fully polished ceramic watch from the iconic Swiss watch brand known to be the 'master of materials'.
History
Founded in 1917 in Lengnau, Switzerland, Rado has a long history of testing new materials and doing it really well. No other watch company does it better than Rado, and on such a large scale as Rado does. In addition to Rado's innovative use of different materials, the brand has also created many iconic models such as Golden Horse, DiaStar and Captain Cook.
Collections
Rado has a variety of collections that include diving watches, dress watches and here in the 'True Square' collection; a collection of models made in ceramics. The material is called 'High Tech Ceramic' by Rado and is incredibly light and really hard to scratch. For the first time, Rado has used a ceramic injection technique that is made in a monobloc construction to further increase the quality. The collection consists of several models, but only four are 38 mm in diameter.
Design
Rado Open Square Heart has Rado's famous square shape, with a case in ceramic and also where the link is made of the scratch-resistant material. The back is made of titanium and through a sapphire crystal you can see the movement, which has a power reserve of 80 hours. The 'Caliber C07' movement is based on the ETA C07.111 and is well known and widely used within The Swatch Group.
Through the transparent dial on the front, the watch's 'Open Heart' can be seen together with several decorations such as côtes de genève, geneva stripes, as well as smaller perlage which, together with the ceramic bridges that run from all the index markings towards the center of the dial, create an interesting and attractive dial.
The case, crown and link are made of a delicious fully polished ceramic which makes the model light and almost impossible to scratch. The highly polished ceramic is so silky that it is hard to do justice in writing. There are also elegant minor details on the watch such as the engraved logo on the crown and the name RADO which is discreetly visible on the link clasp.
The model is 38 mm in diameter and 10.4 mm high, including the sapphire crystal. It is a true unisex watch, although the size will fit better on wrists that are used to 40 mm watches and above, as square models feel a little larger than the millimeter measurement suggests. However, it is extremely light and comfortable on the wrist and weighs only 120 grams. The same model is also available in white ceramic, which is marketed towards women, but as the size is the same as this one, both are actually unisex models.
