Longines Record Heritage – A Chronograph From The Legendary Watch Brand
Few companies create vintage inspired watches better than Longines, you could say they are experts in the field. This is something that is clearly visible in the Longines Record Heritage.
History
The model is part of the 'Record' collection that Longines released in 2017 where all models are automatic and also chronometer certified according to the organization COSC, short for "Contrôle officiel suisse des Chronomètres".
The Longines Record Heritage is 40mm in diameter but sits more like a 41mm model and is inspired by Longines chronographs from the 1930s and 1940s. It is a classic design that pays homage to the past and brings out the best of Longines' rich catalog of vintage designs.
Design
The highlight of the Longines Record Heritage is the combination of the black dial together with the many gold elements that can be seen in everything from the hands, the index markers down to smaller details such as the chronograph dial and the tachymeter. The combination of black and gold is often a safe bet in watch design and here it creates an elegant look, especially in this vintage-inspired chronograph.
The case has a combination of polished and brushed surfaces. The fully polished oval push buttons and crown provide a sense of contrast against the sides of the case which are brushed. The upper side of the lugs and the bezel are fully polished, which from the front creates a dressy feeling on the wrist. The crown is also nicely signed with the Longines emblem, which is actually the world's oldest logo trademark from the organization WIPO.
Movement
On the back is the beautifully decorated movement Longines L895.4 which is exclusively used by Longines automatic chronographs. It is based on the ETA 2892-A2 but is further modified to meet the high demands set by Longines. The power reserve is an impressive 59 hours and the movement is also chronometer certified, which means that it has undergone tests that show that the watch has an accuracy in keeping time between -4 and +6 seconds per day during a 10-day testing period.
Strap Options
You can order this with two strap/link options. The one we have taken a closer look at here has a light brown leather strap made of calfskin with contrasting white stitches of high quality, but you can also order the model with a steel link.
