Montblanc Heritage and Montblanc 1858 – Two collections with a lot of history!
Montblanc is a brand best known for its exclusive pens and leather products, but today Montblanc also manufactures watches of exceptional quality and design. We would like to say that Montblanc creates some of the best-looking watches in the world right now. The breakthrough for Montblanc came in 2006 when The Richemont Group, which owns Montblanc, bought the watch manufacturer Minerva and thus gained access to their exceptional knowledge of watchmaking that dates back to 1858. Minerva is seen as a cult company in the watch world as they historically produced the finest watches and movements and competed with companies such as Vacheron Constantin, IWC, and A Lange de Söhne.
The two collections 'Heritage' and '1858' are strongly inspired by Minerva and its history. They are elegant watches that radiate quality and a fondness for the past. Many of the models are almost unidentifiable as modern, which is just right for the time when the desire for vintage watches is greater than it has ever been!
So what exactly characterizes a Montblanc 1858 and a Montblanc Heritage watch? Here we have collected a selection of models that are worth a closer look from both collections!
Montblanc Heritage Automatic Day Date
This stylish 39mm dress watch features a vintage design inspired by the 1940s and 1950s with a classic silver dial with a day and date function. The sapphire crystal is wonderfully curved along with curved lugs that create a comfortable case and the leather strap that comes with it is made in Florence with a Sfumato alligator strap. The watch is water resistant up to 50 meters which is more than enough for a dress watch watch.
Montblanc Heritage Pulsograph Limited Edition - 100 Pieces
SThis Montblanc Heritage Pulsograph is limited to only 100 watches. The 40mm size is perfect for a chronograph, and not just any chronograph, as there is only one button to start, stop, and restart it. The logo on the dial is Montblanc's old logo from the 1930s and is there to show that this is a watch made with historical preferences.
The pink dial together with the blue outer ring and the blue hands create a perfect harmony. A "pulsograph" was once a common feature on the earlier chronograph watches that doctors used to measure the pulse of patients and is now here in this watch to pay homage to Minerva's famous chronograph models from the 1940s and 1950s.
Montblanc 1858 Automatic Chronograph
This automatic chronograph is a distinctly military-inspired model from World War II with its champagne-colored dial with cathedral hands and the absence of text apart from Montblanc's old logo. The 42mm size is one of the few things that feels modern about this model which is what we love! The bronze case has some polished surfaces and others that are brushed giving a sophisticated and modern impression that fits perfectly in an otherwise vintage-inspired watch.
