DOXA SUB 300T - Pioneering diving watches in world class
There are watch companies that try to create all kinds of watches, such as pilot's watches, and classic suit watches. There are also a few watch companies that do just one thing, in this case, Diver's watches, and do it well. DOXA belongs to the latter type and has now done so for several decades.
A Brand with cult status
DOXA was founded in 1889 and has a rich history. It all started in Le Locle, an area in the Jura mountains in Switzerland where many famous watch brands began their journey.
The company was founded by Georges Ducommun who initially developed watches for the automotive industry, including an innovative watch for the luxury car company Bugatti that had an 8-day power reserve. An interesting detail is that the Ducommuns' old home is now one of the largest watch museums in Switzerland.
DOXA 300T – A Historic Diving Watch
Since the company's inception, DOXA has come up with many innovative and well-known models. In the 60s came the professional diving model DOXA SUB, which was developed together with diving legend Jacques-Yves Cousteau.
In addition to being rated to a depth of 200 meters, it was the first model to feature DOXA's patented unidirectional rotating diving ring with a dual indication of dive time in minutes as well as depth in meters for a safe return to the surface for the diver.
The original SUB 300T came as an evolution of the DOXA SUB and is credited as the first commercial diving watch to feature a helium release valve.
It also featured an innovative orange dial color to improve underwater visibility. For this reason, the watch was historically important in helping to facilitate professional divers. All of these features of the DOXA 300T helped make DOXA and their divers' watches cult watches among watch enthusiasts and make the diver's watch a popular mainstream watch. DOXA 300T made a return to the market in 2006 and today contains many variations of models. From the iconic orange dial to black, silver, blue, and white dials.
The diameter is 42.50 mm with 44.50 mm lug to lug, which makes it smaller and more comfortable to wear than many other diving watches in this size range on the market. If you want to dive with it, it has a water resistance of a whopping 120 ATM (1200 m)!
In recent years, DOXA has had a major boost and has become popular among watch enthusiasts and collectors. Much because of its vintage-inspired diver's watches that are true originals.
