Sjöö Sandström Landsort Is Finally Back – And Now With 4 New Models
Sjöö Sandström has finally come out with the Landsort 459 diving watch! It is a long-awaited return from a future cult watch from the Swedish success company. As watch enthusiasts ourselves at Fredmans, we have long been looking forward to these new diving watches from Sjöö Sandström.
What Does ’Landsort 459’ Means?
Landsort or Landsortdjupet is the Baltic Sea's deepest point, which is located 459 meters below sea level, which corresponds to the water density/pressure that the new Sjöö Sandström Landsort 459 can handle.
According to Kristofer Johansson at Sjöö Sandström, Landsort 459 "meets the requirements of the Swedish Diving Association and at the same time delivers exquisite and unique design". We at Fredmans completely agree with that! Landsort 459 is a wonderful watch that embodies the best of Swedish design in a durable diving watch. If we go back to the beginning of Sjöö Sandström, the company was founded in 1986 and the first version of Landsort came out already in 2011 and was an immediate success!
The Sjöö Sandström Landsort 459 Models
The new models have been developed over several years and consist of three unlimited models in steel and one limited model in only 100 copies in the trendy material bronze. The three models in steel come with black, blue, and green dials, with the blue and green dials having a wave pattern on the dial. The diving ring is made of steel but protected by sapphire glass.
The bronze unlimited model has a green dial with a wavy pattern and comes with an extra diving ring with a 'sapphire insert' and an extra rubber strap.
In terms of size, the Sjöö Sandström Landsort 459 has been reduced from the 44.2 mm case size that the previous model from 2011 had to 42.5 mm. Around 42 mm is a perfect size for this type of diver's watch where the lugs are “missing”, which makes it sit more like a 40 mm watch. Landsort 459 is thus a model that will fit many different wrists. The thickness is 14 mm, which is also a good size for a diving watch, as you don't want it to be too thin or too thick.
All models feature the SSG15 movement, which has a 50-hour power reserve. If you are interested in the new Sjöö Sandström Landsort 459, you can visit us at Fredmans to take a closer look at the models or call us to place an order.
